Security

Entrypoint Plus includes a variety of features that yield the high level of security critical for clinical trials. Its built-in security features let you create a customized, fine-grained security policy specific to your needs.

Entrypoint Plus uses ODBC to connect to SQL databases for data storage, which provides an additional level of security—database logins, passwords, and even built-in encryption—not available with the flat files used in other data entry systems.

Optional 128-bit encryption protects all messages sent to or from the server. 128-bit encryption provides significantly greater protection than 40-bit encryption.

System Access

The Entrypoint Administrator module tools let you manage user access to the Entrypoint Plus system. You can control access to different parts of the system by user or user group, and grant access to individual modules, batches, batch utilities, and reports.

Groups

Managing access by group reduces the implementation of even complex security policies to a simple task. As the Entrypoint Administrator, you can create each security group with its own access privileges. You can then assign the appropriate security groups to user profiles, eliminating the need to assign access privileges to each user.

User ID and Password Limits

You can set login limits and privileges at the user or group level. A user ID account (or group) can be configured so that it is disabled after the operator tries unsuccessfully to log in the number of times you specify. If you include renewal schedules as part of the setup, users are required to change their passwords on a regular basis.

Access to Entrypoint Components

Modules

Separate security groups can be set up for each module—the Administrator, Application Developer and Workstation—so that the users assigned to each of these groups can access only those modules required for their work.

Batches

Security groups and user profiles can be configured to define which users can close, export, or delete batches, change batch status, or change batch passwords. In addition, you can limit access to the Entrypoint Plus batch utilities for comparing, revising and importing batches.

Fields

Access to individual fields can be restricted by assigning access level numbers; operators whose profiles do not have higher access numbers than that for a field cannot access the field.
