Data Entry Accuracy
The Entrypoint Data Entry Workstation module ensures data integrity through validation during each phase of data entry. Data validation features can be defined for individual fields (edit checks), and forms (on-screen validation). This built-in validation process helps eliminate missing or incorrect data. Special features include:
- Immediate error detection and flagging.
- Data retrieval: data from one field can be automatically retrieved for a field on another format, eliminating the need for double entry.
- Validation from lookup tables: users can select from a set of valid values stored in a table or key the value manually; if the user keys the entry, it is accepted only if it is in the table.
- Validation of numeric and string fields with check-digits: Entrypoint includes standard check-digit algorithms, or you can define your own.
- Ranges of acceptable/unacceptable values: pre-set ranges define the scope of values that are acceptable or unacceptable in the field.
- Date checks: the application checks against today's date, for invalid dates such as 02/31/, or compares to a date range.
- Batch accumulators: accumulators verify the accuracy of numeric fields across records—for example, an accumulator operation that adds values entered through an entire batch to verify that they match a balance total. A single Entrypoint application can use up to 128 accumulators.
- Double-entry validation: the user must key the field twice, and the entries must match.
- Re-key verification: after all records are added, but before closing the batch, the user must retype the data in the fields flagged for re-keying, to ensure accuracy. You can assign this type of verification to all or selected fields.
